Powder, in a nutshell:
Paint is wet and air-dries. Powder Coat is a dry color we spray on metal with a charge, then bake to melt it into a shell. No spray cans, no peeling like porch enamel after two winters, a hard solid protective layer.
It's for parts you can take off and hang in an oven, not for house siding or touching up the chip on your car door.

ABOUT FAIRWATER COATINGS
Action Out of Necessity
Fairwater Coatings was started out of necessity. We were working on a vehicle restoration project that needed some parts powder coated. During our search for a reputable powder coating service, we found there were few in our area, and those few had a less than ideal turnover rate for the small number of parts we had. We decided that it would be quicker to hand build a 4’x4’x6’ curing oven and take on the job ourselves. We made a few posts on social media showing our work, just to share what we were up to in the shop. It wasn’t long before people were contacting us to service some projects for them, and we decided this would be a great service to continue for our community and region. We recently expanded into a larger facility to expand our capabilities.
